Kansas disaster declaration FEMA-4943-DR: Lane County added

Small Business Administration. October 19, 2026. Read the source.

Which Kansas organizations can apply for SBA disaster loans under FEMA-4943-DR?

The Small Business Administration amended the Kansas major disaster declaration FEMA-4943-DR on October 13, 2026, to add Lane County. The disaster covers severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding from June 18 to June 30, 2026. Because it is a Public Assistance Only declaration, SBA disaster loans go to private nonprofits that provide essential services of a governmental nature. The deadline for physical damage loans is November 2, 2026. The deadline for economic injury loans is June 1, 2027.

Who can apply

A Public Assistance Only declaration is narrower than a full disaster declaration. SBA’s loans under it are for private nonprofits that provide essential services of a governmental nature, such as community centers, shelters, libraries, and senior centers. Nonprofits that run critical services, like utilities, emergency services, hospitals, and schools, apply to FEMA directly. Lane County nonprofits that fit that description can now apply. The other areas in the original September 1 declaration are unchanged.

Applications go through the MySBA Loan Portal at lending.sba.gov.

Two deadlines

November 2, 2026 for physical damage loans, which repair or replace damaged property. That is about two and a half weeks after this amendment was published, so a Lane County nonprofit with storm damage should start now.

June 1, 2027 for economic injury disaster loans, which give working capital to cover costs the organization could not meet because of the disaster.

Recovery grants after the loan

An SBA loan has to be repaid. Grants for recovery come later from FEMA public assistance, state programs, and community foundations that open disaster funds.
