What does “Letter of intent” mean in grants?

A short notice that you plan to apply, used by funders to plan their review. Some foundations use the same name for a short pitch they read before inviting a full proposal. Read the guidelines to see which one is meant.

A common mix-up

What people assume: A signed commitment, as in a business deal.

What it means in grants: A short, non-binding notice that you plan to apply.
